History

History is not available in the Advanced Wireless Forms application.

Choose History from the top menu to view historical data for vehicles, users, alerts and locations. You can review where users have been, time spent at various locations or landmarks and alerts received. You can also create a landmark from any search that returns data on the map.

The History option features a map and grid. You can change the orientation of the map and grid  by choosing either Vertical View, Horizontal View or Toggle View (show map only or grid only). Maps show no users until you run a query.

The History tab features:

User History

Alerts History

Location History

User History

View user history by a time period, or by a single trip. Each history search can return up to 2000 points.

·    Time - Displays all the movement data for a single device

·    Trip  - Categorizes the movement data into time periods between ignition startup and shutdown

If you choose a vehicle that has no historical data, the grid will display ‘no GPS history found’.

After you choose a trip time period for viewing, you can use the Link Positions button to see the path the user has traveled. Increase the map's resolution to see greater path detail.

Note: You cannot save a History query.

History Playback

Use the History Playback button at the top of the screen to view an animated display of a user's movements on the map. After you run a search, choose a listing from the results and click Start Playback.

A media player dialog displays below the map, showing the date and time of your selection. Use the reverse, pause and forward buttons to control the movement, or choose Stop Playback to stop the animation. Also, you can control the speed of the playback by clicking on the Speed drop-down on the player.

Creating a Landmark

You can create a landmark from the History area if your query search returns data. Right-click on the History map and choose Create Landmark. The Landmark Builder dialog displays, and the map shows a pushpin in the area you selected.

A red border displays around fields where user input is required.

1.     Enter a name for the new landmark in the Name field.

2.     Choose a shape for your landmark area in the Shape field. There are three (3) shapes to choose from:

·    Square - Click in your landmarked area, ensuring that the landmark pushpin is included in the shape. Click and drag the landmark handle(s) (square box) to enlarge or reduce the size of the area. You can also click inside or outside of your shape to change the size.

·    Circle - Click in your landmarked area, ensuring that the landmark pushpin is included in the shape. Click and drag the landmark handle(s) (square box) to enlarge or reduce the size of the area. You can also click inside or outside of your shape to change the size.

·    Polygon - Click to begin drawing your polygon. As you click at each point of the polygon's shape, a handle (square box) will display. Your polygon can take any shape you want - click and drag the handles to modify the shape as necessary. Make sure that the pushpin is located inside the shape, and that you do not dissect your shape by drawing a line across it. When you finish drawing, close the shape by clicking again at the starting point.

3.     Complete the address fields, if you have a unique address. The more exact your address, the better the geocode quality will be. See Grid Icons for more information on geocode indicators.

4.     If your address is not exact, a listing of suggested addresses will display. You must select from one of the addresses to continue.

5.     You can also enter a value in the Radius field to determine the size of the landmark.

Note that the radius field is measured in feet. Estimate the size of the building or area that corresponds to the landmark in feet. For example, if you are adding a landmark for a building with more than one level, estimate only the perimeter of the building, not the total square footage.

6.     Choose Verify & Draw to geocode and approve your landmark area.

Depending on the geocode quality of your landmark, you may get a confirmation dialog that states: 'The specified landmark corresponds to a different map location (latitude and longitude). Do you want to move the landmark pushpin to the address?'

7.      Choose Yes if you want the landmark to be moved to the more accurate geocode location.

8.     Choose No if you want the landmark to remain in its current location. You may want the landmark to stay if, for example, your target is a construction site that has no address, or a campus where an exact address isn't important.

9.     Choose Save.
